Coachella 2017 was every bit amazing. Having first been in 2015, I couldn’t say no to the opportunity to get back there when a group of friends were going along for their first time. Unlike some of the other festivals I have been to, Coachella attracts a great crowd of people, full of culture with a mutual love for music and fashion.

If you’re planning to go to Coachella for the first time, here’s a quick run down of my experience, which I highly rated.

  • Book an accommodation + ticket package via www.valleymusictravel.com.
I stayed at the JW Marriot Resort, this includes a shuttle pass to get you to and from the festival. It takes about 30 mins each way, however the shuttles leave frequently so we were never really left waiting.
TIP: JW Marriot has a hertz onsite if you’re driving from LA. Rent a car and drop it off so you don’t pay rental costs over the weekend.
  • If staying off grounds, don’t head in too early unless there’s a band you really want to see. The temperature gets insanely hot during the day and you’ll just find yourself looking for shade and spending more money on drinks.
  • Take a bandanna. Admittedly I thought these were just a fashion fad the first time I went to Coachella, however sandstorms are a thing, especially at the end of the night when everyone is walking out in the masses. Cover your mouth and nose with it, you can thank me later.
  • Wear boots, not sandals. While a lot of people do wear sandals, personally I don’t think it’s the best idea. The ground is dusty and when you’re dancing or getting into the crowds the last thing you want is for someone standing on your toes!

Tips For Coachella Style

1. Quirky sunglasses
I brought all mine from ZERO UV. They are really cheap and pretty good quality too.

2. Body tattoos, face gems, glitter.
Stock up from GLO TATTS. Free shipping in Australia and beautiful designs. You can’t go wrong.

3. Bandanna
Most online fashion stores sell these, I got mine from ASOS & BOOHOO.COM

4. Military Boots
My beloved Jeffery Campbell boots are a fair few years old now, but he’s always got a good boot selection going. Alternatively, theiconic.com.au is a great place to shop for shoes.

5. Bohemian/ western inspired pieces
FREE PEOPLE is one of my favourite places to shop for boho inspired fashion. Missguided also has a great festival shop which I picked up a few pieces from.
